The short version

Both apps take a list of stops and give you a faster order to drive them. The difference is mostly price and how many stops you get before you have to pay.

  • SoloRoute: 20 free stops per route, Pro at $7.99 a month for 100 stops.
  • RoadWarrior: about 8 free stops, paid plan at $14.99 a month.

If your day has more than 8 stops and you don’t want to pay, SoloRoute covers you up to 20. If you do pay, SoloRoute costs about half as much.

RoadWarrior also offers planning on the web, so if you plan routes on a desktop, that may suit you better. Check their pricing page for what each plan includes today.

Price and stop limits

Most solo drivers we talk to have 10 to 40 stops a day. Here is how that plays out.

  • 10 to 20 stops. SoloRoute is free. RoadWarrior’s free plan covers about 8, so you would need the paid plan.
  • 20 to 100 stops. You need a paid plan on either app. SoloRoute Pro is $7.99 a month. RoadWarrior is $14.99 a month.
  • Over a year. SoloRoute Pro is $71.99 on the annual plan, or $95.88 paying monthly. RoadWarrior’s paid plan is about $180 at the monthly price.

SoloRoute bills through the App Store or Google Play. You can cancel from your phone’s subscription settings whenever you want.

Adding stops

Typing 30 addresses one at a time is the slowest part of any route. SoloRoute gives you several faster ways in:

  • search an address with autocomplete,
  • paste a list of addresses, one per line,
  • import a CSV or spreadsheet,
  • scan a printed manifest with your camera,
  • pick from your saved addresses (100 free, unlimited with Pro),
  • or drop a pin on the map.

Each stop can hold notes, a phone number, a package count and the package location in your vehicle. With Pro it can also have a time window. Gate codes and “leave at back door” notes stay with the stop where you need them.

Optimizing and changing the route

Both apps optimize the order for you. What matters next is how easy it is to change things when the day doesn’t go to plan.

In SoloRoute you can drag a stop to a new spot, edit any stop at any time and the route re-times itself, or reverse the whole route with Pro. You don’t have to start over to move one stop.

SoloRoute doesn’t build its own turn-by-turn voice. It opens the next stop in Google Maps, Waze or Apple Maps. You keep the traffic, lane guidance and voice you already know, and those apps run on CarPlay and Android Auto.

SoloRoute itself does not show on the car screen. If you need the planner on CarPlay or Android Auto, check RoadWarrior’s pricing page, as we could not confirm which plan includes it.

On the road

In SoloRoute you mark each stop delivered, or failed with a reason, and look back at past routes. With Pro you can also take a photo for proof of delivery. Dark mode makes early mornings easier on the eyes. Sign in with email, Google or Apple and your routes sync across devices.
