How we compared them
A disclosure first: we make SoloRoute. We have listed it, but we have tried to be straight about where other apps are better.
We looked at the things that matter to a driver on day one:
- Free stops. How many stops can you optimize before you hit a paywall?
- Paid price. What does it cost when you outgrow the free plan?
- Optimization. Does it actually reorder your stops, or just draw a line?
- Who it is built for. One driver, or a team with a dispatcher?
Prices come from each app’s pricing page as of October 2026. They change, so check before you subscribe.
1. SoloRoute
Free: 20 stops per route. Paid: $7.99 a month or $71.99 a year for 100 stops per route, with a 7-day free trial.
SoloRoute is built for drivers who run their own routes: independent couriers, gig drivers, florists, sales reps. You add stops by search, paste, CSV import, scanning a printed manifest, your saved addresses or a dropped pin. One tap optimizes the route. Then each stop opens in Google Maps, Waze or Apple Maps.
Each stop can hold notes, a phone number, a package count and where the package sits in your vehicle, and you can pin a stop first or last. You can mark stops delivered, or failed with a reason, and look back at past routes. Pro adds time windows and photo proof of delivery.
Good for: solo drivers with 10 to 100 stops who want the most free stops and the cheapest paid plan.
Not ideal for: teams that need a dispatcher dashboard, or drivers who want the planner itself on the CarPlay screen.
2. Spoke (formerly Circuit)
Free: 10 stops per route. Paid: $9.99 a month Lite, $19.99 a month Standard.
Spoke is the app many drivers know as Circuit Route Planner. It is polished and well known. The free plan is enough for a short day. In-app CarPlay and Android Auto support is on the Standard plan.
Good for: drivers who want the planner on their car screen and don’t mind paying $19.99 a month, and teams using Spoke’s dispatch tools.
Not ideal for: drivers who want more than 10 free stops. See our SoloRoute vs Spoke comparison.
3. RoadWarrior
Free: about 8 stops. Paid: $14.99 a month.
RoadWarrior is a multi-stop planner that also offers planning on the web for planning on a computer. The free tier is small, so most daily drivers will end up on the paid plan.
Good for: people who like planning on a desktop. Check their pricing page for what each plan includes.
Not ideal for: drivers who want to stay free with more than 8 stops. See SoloRoute vs RoadWarrior.
4. Upper
Free: no free plan, a 7-day trial. Paid: from $40 per user a month billed yearly, or $50 monthly.
Upper is built mainly for delivery businesses with several drivers and someone planning routes in an office. It is priced per user, which adds up fast for a team but is a lot for one person.
Good for: small fleets with a dispatcher.
Not ideal for: a single driver on a budget. See SoloRoute vs Upper.
5. Google Maps
Free: up to 10 stops, including your start. Paid: none.
Google Maps is the best free navigation app for most people. But it is not a route planner. It keeps your stops in the order you type them and caps you at 10. For a handful of errands that’s fine. For a delivery day it isn’t.
Good for: a few stops in a fixed order, and turn-by-turn directions once you know the order.
Not ideal for: more than 9 destinations, or any day where the order is up to you. Our guide covers how to use Google Maps with more than 10 stops.
Which one should you pick?
Start from your day.
- Under 9 stops, order doesn’t matter much: Google Maps is enough.
- 10 to 20 stops, you plan your own route: SoloRoute free covers you. Spoke and RoadWarrior would need a paid plan.
- 20 to 100 stops, solo: SoloRoute Pro at $7.99 a month is the cheapest paid option here.
- You need the planner on your car screen: Spoke Standard.
- You run a team with a dispatcher: Upper or Spoke’s team plans.
Try it
Install SoloRoute (free for 20 stops per route) and paste your addresses to see the optimized order. Notes, package counts and first or last stops are included. Pro takes up to 100 stops per route and adds time windows and photo proof of delivery.
